Our funding approach resembles that of an angel investor more than a traditional family foundation. We seek opportunities to make "seed investments" in early-stage organizations that have the potential to significantly impact many lives.

Our decision process is informal and typically takes 8-12 weeks. After receiving an initial proposal, we schedule several in-person meetings, conduct thorough due diligence, and consult with board members and key partners. We award unrestricted grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 annually, with a lifetime cap of $250,000 per organization.

We aim to support our grantees and funding partners with varying levels of engagement. We do not seek to be the lead financial sponsor and are happy to co-fund or match grants with other family foundations and organizations. Additionally, we sponsor specific mission-aligned projects, events, and fundraisers in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City.

All our final candidates must be incorporated as a tax-exempt organization under the 501(c)(3) IRS tax code or have a fiscal sponsor.
